New Yorkers Are Too Fat. Bloomberg Announces Plans To Ban Slurpees!

Michael Bloomberg - Caricature

Did you see this? Mayor Michael Bloomberg has announced plans to attempt to ban any sugary soft drink in the entire city of New York over 16 ounces. This is to ‘protect’ the people from the dangers of obesity. Wow! Just wow…

This is what I think is crazier. This ban will likely pass because it only needs to be approved by the city’s Board of Health. Do you know who sits on the board? People handpicked by Mayor Bloomberg himself. Isn’t that amazing? Apparently being Mayor of New York city is the same thing as King of New York city. All Bloomberg has to do is make a decree and expect his appointees to be yes-men.

Here is the kicker. Previous health policies enacted by New York have spread all across the country. Bloomberg lead the effort against trans fats which has spread nationwide. He also worked to eliminate smoking from public areas in the city. Again that trend has spread nationwide. Will the 16 ounce sugary drink ban be the next to spread? What do you think?

About The Political Zealot

The Political Zealot is designed to bring independent analysis of politics from a Millennial's point of view. Being a Millennial, I am much more inclined to work together and come to a compromise than most of the Baby Boomers that are in Congress today. Because of this, The Political Zealot will strive to find ways to bridge the gaps of both sides of the political aisle and bring solutions to the table.
