Inauguration Over – What’s Coming In Obama’s Second Term?

Share

Yesterday was inauguration day where the festivities took place in Washington for President Obama’s second term. President Obama was sworn into office on Sunday, but the public festivities took place yesterday. I am not sure why they won’t do them on a Sunday, but oh well. The inauguration is always a fun time, where the President is a rock star and is treated as such. No matter what party you are in, you have to watch in awe as the United States elects or reaffirms their new President, which is arguably the most powerful person in the entire world.

I was able to watch the inauguration speech as well as part of the motorcade progression. President Obama’s speech was as expected. It was more of a bridge building speech, where Obama called on Americans to get active and demand action from their congressmen. Obama mentioned many programs that his liberal base was likely happy to hear mentioned. He mentioned social security, medicare, minorities, ending a decade long war. It was right out of the ideological left’s playbook.

I left the house shortly after his speech. I returned to watch the motorcade progression as it made its way to the viewing station for Obama to watch the parade. I always liked watching the motorcade progression. It’s always something I watch in awe as the motorcade makes its way down the streets of Washington, D.C. with the Secret Service walking on all sides.

Yesterday marked the beginning of Obama’s second term. It appears that he has in store for us a long list of ideological left-wing policies to push if his speech is any indication. There wasn’t a lot of specifics laid out at the inaugural speech. Expect actual policy details at the State of the Union speech in February.

About The Political Zealot

The Political Zealot is designed to bring independent analysis of politics from a Millennial's point of view. Being a Millennial, I am much more inclined to work together and come to a compromise than most of the Baby Boomers that are in Congress today. Because of this, The Political Zealot will strive to find ways to bridge the gaps of both sides of the political aisle and bring solutions to the table.
