Simple question. Why do I ask? I have been to several gun stores recently and the availability of anything from a simple Glock handgun, to a Remington 870 12 gauge shotgun, to any AR-15 is completely unavailable/out of stock. Even ammo is completely out in most locations and it is starting to cause issues for law enforcement. So when will it all end?
Until the gun control debate makes its way through congress, it is likely to continue. The thing is most of these shortages are due to people buying and then reselling these guns and ammo at higher prices at online gun retailers such as gunbroker.com or at local gun shows. While the money seems to be good right now, it will like all bubbles eventually pop. When that happens, expect the supply to be reset and inflated prices to drop substantially.
While I can’t say for certain that a gun ban such as the assault weapons ban will not happen, the odds are definitely against such a ban from taking place. Once that news reaches the masses, mass sell offs not unlike stock sell-offs will happen for a vast majority of these guns and prices will plummet.
In the meantime, guns and ammo will be very hard to come by in the next several weeks/months until the rush/bubble finally pops.
